About the project
How is our judgment influenced when we know nothing about the names and backgrounds of the artists? How do we develop our own definition of value when prices are standardized? Where is the boundary between art and non-art?
In the exhibitions of ANONYMOUS DRAWINGS, around 600 international drawings by 600 artists are presented. The works are exhibited without the artists’ names and offered for sale at a symbolic fixed price of 250 euros per drawing.
The anonymity of the artists is only lifted through a sale: once a drawing is sold, it is immediately removed from the exhibition wall. The empty space that remains is then marked with the artist’s full name and place of origin.
The fixed price is not intended to represent an actual market value; rather, it functions as a conceptual placeholder for any price imaginable within the art market.
Each exhibition is preceded by an INTERNATIONAL OPEN CALL FOR PARTICIPATION. There are no thematic requirements. The only condition is that the drawings must not exceed A3 size (29.7 × 42 cm).
Biographical information about the participants is not requested and plays no role in the selection process.
The selection of works is made on the basis of anonymized image files. The original works are subsequently sent to Berlin, Germany
Anyone can participate, and participation is free of charge.
ANONYMOUS DRAWINGS is both conceptual art and an exhibition project: the works of the participating artists become part of a collective artwork without hierarchies.
