From 8 February to 28 March 2025, two projects dealing with the medium of drawing will be presented at Kunstraum Erfurt: ANONYMOUS DRAWINGS - a project for original drawings, curated by the artist Anke Becker and LINES FICTION – a project for animated drawings and films, curated by the artist Bettina Munk.
ANONYMOUS DRAWINGS
How is one's judgement influenced when one does not know the names and origins of the creators? How do you develop your own definition of value when the prices are the same? Where is the line between art and non-art?
The exhibition ANONYMOUS DRAWINGS 2024/25 at the Kunsthaus Erfurt presents around 400 drawings by 400 international artists. The works will be exhibited with no mention of authorship or title and offered for sale at a symbolic unit price of 250€ each. The identity of the artist is revealed only after the work is sold: Sold drawings will be taken right off the wall. The empty space left behind will be marked with the artist‘s full name and place of origin. The given unit sales price should not be seen as a real market price, but as a conceptual place holder for any conceivable amount of money in the art market.
The exhibition was preceded by an international open call for entries. Everyone was eligible. There were no requirements in terms of content or form. The only requirement was that the submitted drawing is no bigger than A3. Age, biography or gender of the artists were not requested and did not play any role in the anonymous selection process. The exhibited drawings were selected from over 4400 submissions by the artist and project founder Anke Becker. All the drawings were put together in collaboration with the artists Veronike Hinsberg and Inken Reinert to create a collective work of art.
ANONYMOUS DRAWINGS is both a conceptual art project and an exhibition: the individual works are part of a collective, non-hierarchical, total work of art.
The first exhibition of the 2024/25 selection of Anonymous Drawings was shown at Kunstraum Kreuzberg, Berlin, from 16 November 2024 to 12 January 2025. All 1000 works selected from the 2024 open call were exhibited there. The space at Kunsthaus Erfurt is smaller than those in Berlin. Therefore, a selection of about 400 drawings will be presented there. All other drawings will be on display and available for online purchase again from 10 February.
Parallel to the exhibition of the Anonymous Drawings, Bettina Munk von LINES FICTION will present the entire 2024/25 film reel with an extensive series of animated short films at the Kunsthaus Erfurt. For the film reel there was also an international open call for participation.

Zeichnung bewegen - Animation workshop with Aline Helmcke
This workshop explores the possibilities of setting drawing in motion. In short exercises, we will be introduced to working with analog animation techniques such as animated drawing and layering. This will involve working directly under the camera with pencil, paper and scissors. Please bring your own drawing materials, scissors and a smartphone or iPad with the “Stop Motion Studio” app installed for the workshop. Participation is free of charge.
